Frankfort, KY. –  In part 1 of a three-part series, Wes Royse talked with State Representative Steve Riley for an update on the legislative session in Frankfort that has come to an end.  In Part 1 of this series, Riley discusses money he was able to secure for the completion of the third floor of the TJ Health Pavilion, over $27 Million for State Roads in Barren County, and $1.18 Million for County  and City Roads in Barren.  Here’s that conversation:

According to Riley, in the 2-year road plan, Barren County is receiving around $27.8 Million in road project funding.  Project include a major widening of KY 90 from Sanders Street in Cave City to US 68 in Glasgow, improvements on 1297 from Donnelly Drive to the L. Rogers Wells Boulevard and improvements on Donnelly Drive.  In addition, road crews will be addressing paving improvements on US 31-E, US 68, and upgrading the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland (Now called) Expressway to meet standards for the Interstate 66 corridor. A new interchange at KY 249 could be added, pending other economic projects.  Also, turning lanes on the Veteran’s Outer Loop will be added around the new Southern States facility.

In the City and County Road Plan, Barren County is receiving $1.18 Million for projects that include resurfacing on Mt. Pleasant Road, Glover Road, Willie Groce Road, and Millstown Road.  Sink hole repair for 2nd Street in Cave City is also included in the budget.
