(Glasgow, KY)   Glasgow High School’s drama program performed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Grease was the word throughout Glasgow High School’s lobby and auditorium, as the space was transformed into “Riddell High School”, the setting for their performance of the musical, “Grease”.  The musical is based on the classic film, and even as you walked in to show your ticket, you were taken back to the 1950s and Riddell High.

The performance itself featured a multi-level production, beginning with an intro film played on the backdrop of the GHS Auditorium that was filmed, in part, at George J’s on The Square in Glasgow; which still holds some of it’s original flare from the 50s era. Complex stage arrangements enhanced the talent of the actors who underwent several costume changes throughout the show.  One of the highlights in this area was an actual classic white hot rod that was rolled on stage for the Thunderbirds’ ensembles.  Glasgow Superintendent Dr, Chad Muhlenkamp even took part in a dance routine.

Talent was spread across the stage, featuring solo performances by lead characters and group numbers that were choreographed to a seamless effort.  The music accompaniment for every song in the program was performed by a live, in-house band in the lower section of the auditorium.  The magic of the performance of Grease by Glasgow High School was the result of a lot of hard work, help from several areas of the school, and a district-wide focus on the arts.

WCLU News caught up with Director of the musical, Sarah Sheppard, right after the final performance on Sunday.
