(Glasgow, KY)  The Barren County Middle School Volley team and Beta club recently put their efforts into a worthy cause at their game on Monday.  The event was titled as a “Teddy Bear Throw”.  The original idea came from Beta Club president, Kailyyn Peterson.

WCLU News spoke with Katie Earls,7th Grade Science Teacher and co-sponsor of the Beta Club at BCMS, about their Teddy Bear Throw and the reason there is a need for stuffed animals for children who are taken away from their parents during stressful and difficult times.  Here are Earl’s comments and account of the evening.

Teddy Bears are often used by law enforcement officers and social workers as a tool to help keep children calm when having to be removed from the care of their parents during a bad situation.  Representatives from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Social Services, and Drug Court were all in attendance to show their support.

Earls recognized her student, Peterson, for coming up with the idea and following through with it with conviction.
