According to a release made by the Cave City Police Department:
On 03/14/2024, Major Paul Reynolds responded to CCC Contracting on Wall St in reference to a stolen service truck. Reynolds gathered information on the service truck and opened up an investigation.
Two days later, Officer Kersey and Major Reynolds responded to Northside Estates subdivision in reference to a stolen Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck. Reynolds gathered the information on the pickup truck, and opened up an investigation on the pick up truck as well.
Through an extensive investigation by Major Reynolds, it was determined that both of the trucks were stolen by a male- later identified as Charles Ethan Clay.
On 03/18/2024, Major Reynolds and Officer Kersey continued the investigation by conducting interviews and watching surveillance camera footage in the area of Walnut St in Cave City, where Clay resided.
Clay was observed fleeing from a residence on Walnut St; Major Reynolds deployed K-9 Jax to perform a track which led Major Reynolds and Officer Kersey to a nearby neighborhood, where they observed Clay hid under a semi trailer.
Clay was arrested on several felony charges and transported to Barren County Detention Center.
Major Reynolds and Officer Kersey, was able to recover and return both stolen vehicles to their rightful owners. This investigation was also assisted by Kentucky State Trooper Tyler Walters.
