Red Cross Month kicks off with giveaways and prizes for donors

Mar 14, 2024 | 5:05 AM

In recognition of its relentless commitment to humanitarian service, March is celebrated as American Red Cross Month across the United States. This annual observance pays tribute to the tireless efforts of the Red Cross in providing disaster relief, supporting military families, offering lifesaving training, and supplying vital blood donations.

During Red Cross Month, the organization aims to raise awareness about its diverse range of services and encourages individuals to get involved through volunteerism, blood donations, and financial contributions. Through its vast network of volunteers and supporters, the Red Cross continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of millions of people each year.

Jennifer Capps, Executive Director for the Red Cross of South-Central Kentucky, spoke on how the Red Cross has impacted our area.

In addition to its disaster response and preparedness efforts, the Red Cross plays a vital role in maintaining a stable blood supply to meet the needs of patients across the country. Blood donations are essential for various medical procedures, including surgeries, cancer treatments, and trauma care, and the organization continually emphasizes the importance of regular blood donations.

This year, the Red Cross and its partners are incentivizing donation by gifting donors a $10 gift card to a pet supply store of the donor’s choice and their name is also entered into a chance to win one of five $3,000 gift cards if they donate by March 24th. For those unable to donate by the 24th the Red Cross and Warner Brothers collaborated and donation between March 25th through April 7th nets donors an exclusive Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Red Cross t-shirt.

For those interested in donating the Red Cross provided a list of upcoming drive locations:
