Lights, Camera, Glasgow!

Mar 14, 2024 | 5:05 AM

Glasgow and Barren County as a whole are no strangers to the spotlight with multiple productions and millions of dollars coming into the area. This is no small feat given the gargantuan investment made by production companies when finding a setting that embodies the stories narrative and is also feasible within the constraints of the production budget.

Barren County has been lucky in not just its natural beauty, but also in the people and organizations that want to see it thrive.

Many of those people work in the local tourism offices, each finding new ways to entice potential partners, who will hopefully invest not only their time with the county, but also their money.

Director of Glasgow-Barren County Tourism, Maclean Lessenberry, spoke to this when talking about the movie Finding Love in Sisters, which was primarily filmed in Glasgow.

With locations such as George J’s, Simply Chic, The Ole French Restaurant, and Weldon Park being recognizable to any Barren County resident in the film, it would be a shame if these same residents were unable to enjoy the film. That is exactly why the Glasgow public is invited to see a special screening of Finding Love in Sisters tomorrow evening at the Marquee Highland Cinema.

A summary of the movie is as follows:

“Finding Love in Sisters” is a heartfelt family drama that follows the journey of Esperanza, a successful lawyer whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel. When her mother unexpectedly passes away, Esperanza returns to her hometown of Sisters, Oregon, where she reunites with her estranged Cuban family. The film explores themes of love, loss, and rediscovery as Esperanza navigates her relationships with her sisters and grapples with the conditions tied to her mother’s house.”

Lessenberry noted that no reservation was necessary to attend and that it would be “first come, first serve,” also stating that the premier would be a family friendly event.

This event will, hopefully, mark one of many times to come that Barren County can come together with audiences worldwide to see our community take centerstage.
