GLASGOW – On Monday, the Barren County High School Cheer Team brought home the gold as they were crowned the UCA Varsity Coed Division II National High School Cheerleading Champions.

The highly regarded competition took place at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Hosted by the Universal Cheerleaders Association for over four decades, this year’s event drew participation from over 1,000 teams nationwide, all vying for top accolades across different divisions.

“I am so excited for this team and this program. We have worked so hard this year,” said head coach Drew Bewley Settle in a press release on Tuesday. “This team made history and won our first UCA National Championship! I can’t explain how excited all these kids and parents are. As a coach, I am extremely blessed to have such great athletes. My mom has coached for 44 years, and she sure deserves this.”

Amy Irwin, BCHS Principal, added, “We couldn’t be more proud of this team. These athletes and coaches put in countless hours to reach this level of excellence, and this championship is a result of their hard work and commitment.”
