Kentucky State Police Pursuit Leads to Standoff in Logan County

The Kentucky State Police was assisting the Bowling Green Police Department in attempting to locate a stolen black GMC Canyon pick up truck on Monday, January 22. The vehicle was observed traveling towards Bowling Green on Russellville Road.

Bowling Green Police Department initiated emergency lights in attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to stop and continued on to I-165 south bound.

Kentucky State Police Troopers then assumed the lead and pursued the stolen vehicle as it continued south towards Nashville. The pursuit continued through Warren County and in to Logan County. As the pursuit continued in to Logan County, the operator was observed brandishing a firearm inside of the vehicle. The vehicle then continued on to Coppertown Road where the vehicle came to a stop and a standoff ensued for several hours.

The subject remained inside of the vehicle continuing to display a firearm and was non-compliant to commands. The Kentucky State Police Special Response Team was deployed, the subject was arrested without further incident.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Adam Lee Parnell of Russellville, Ky. Parnell was taken in to custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
