Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson received a call from Union County Dispatch around 4:00 pm Friday, December 1, 2023 of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US 60 By-pass and KY 56 in Morganfield.
Preliminary investigation reveals that 53–year-old Kellie S. Hughes of Morganfield, KY was traveling southbound on KY 56 in a black 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. The investigation determined, Hughes failed to stop at a traffic control device and proceeded through the intersection. James F. Crowdus, 78 of Morganfield was traveling westbound on US 60 in a white Toyota van. Crowdus struck Hughes on the drivers side.
Hughes was pronounced dead on the scene by the Union County Coroner’s Office. Her passenger, Curtis M. McGuire, 49 of Morganfield was taken by ambulance to Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN and is in stable condition.
Crowdus was transported to Deaconess Hospital in Henderson, KY for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is on-going by the Kentucky State Police.
Kentucky State Police, Union County and Morganfield Fire Departments, Union County EMS, Morganfield City Police, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Corner’s Office and other agencies assisted troopers at the scene.
