Three Todd County Residents Arrested After Police Respond to Shooting

Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 was contacted about a shooting that occurred on an easement near Pilot Rock Road in Todd County on Sunday, November 12, 2023 around 2:45PM.

The preliminary investigation indicates Paul J. Vangotum 47, of Pembroke, was involved in a physical altercation with Charles L. Segers 75, of Elkton, Christopher L. Segers 51, of Elkton, and Clayton C. Segers 18, of Sharon Grove regarding a property dispute. During the altercation, Paul J. Vangotum discharged his firearm striking all three.

Charles L. Segers was transported to Jennie Stuart where he has since been released with non-life-threatening injuries. Christopher L. Segers was life-flighted to Vanderbilt where he has since been released with non-life-threatening injuries. Clayton C. Segers was life-flighted to Skyline where he has since been released with non-life-threatening injuries. Paul J. Vangotum was also transported to Jennie Stuart where he was released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Charles L. Segers was arrested and charged with trespassing, assault 4th degree, terroristic threatening, and wanton endangerment 1st degree.

Christopher L. Segers was arrested and charged with trespassing, assault 4th degree, terroristic threatening, and wanton endangerment 1st degree.

Clayton C. Segers was arrested and charged with trespassing, assault 4th degree, and wanton endangerment 1st degree.

KSP was assisted on scene by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Todd County Sheriff’s Office, Todd County EMS, and PHI Air Ambulance. This investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
