Imogene Lasley Whitman

Imogene Lasley Whitman, age 88, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (November 15, 2023) at her home.

She was born on May 9, 1935 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Alvin and Elsie Watson Lasley.

She was a retired teacher from Grayson County Schools. She had the privilege of being the first Special Education teacher in Grayson County. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her wonderful family. She was member for over 50 years of the Antioch General Baptist Church.

She is survived her son, Melvin Whitman (Dana); daughters, Phyllis Whitman, Lana Trail (Alan), and Lisa Peach (Byron); grandsons, Jeremey Blair (Dre), Chad Whitman (Melissa), Brandon Whitman (Shi) and Wesley Trail; granddaughters, Ashlee Clemons, Chaley Trail (Houston), and Mary Beth  Peach; great-grandchildren, Chase, Trevor,  Khade and Justin Whitman, Simon and Camille Trail-Ward, Mason Peach, Bethany and Alexis Blair; and one sister, Hazel Lasley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley “Bob” Whitman; grandson, Tyler Whitman; brothers, Roy Lashley, Charles, Damon, and Ace Lasley.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m.  Monday, (November 20, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Buddy Brooks will be officiating. A private burial will be held.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
