(October 26, 2023) – Cave City, KY – Around 11:10pm Tuesday, Cave City Police Department Officer Wesley Hicks responded to a criminal mischief complaint on North Dixie Highway. Upon arrival at the scene, Officer Hicks detected the odor of marijuana coming from the residence. He informed a female at the residence that he was there to investigate a criminal mischief complaint.
Officer Hicks asked the residence owner for consent to search, and after gaining consent, he found methamphetamine, a 9mm Springfield handgun, a trafficking amount of hemp, marijuana, several glass pipes, cash, several sets of digital scales, and a ledger. All items were located within access of two juveniles who were inside the residence.
As a result of the investigation, Kevin Roach, Brittney Wright, and Matthew Wright were all arrested and lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
Roach is charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brittney and Matthew Wright are both charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; trafficking in hemp less than 8 ounces, enhanced; trafficking in marijuana, enhanced; and endangering the welfare of a minor. In addition, Matthew Wright is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Officer Jacob Kersey and K9 Officer Garth Avery assisted Officer Hicks with the investigation.
