(November 7, 2023) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeing an increase in street sign thefts. The Cabinet reports spending seven-hundred-fifty-thousand dollars last year to replace stolen signs with funds coming from taxpayer dollars.
Each sign replacement costs between two hundred and three hundred dollars.
Officials say sign stealing comes with consequences. A person stealing signs can be fined up to five-hundred dollars and spend more than a year in jail.
