Kentucky State Police Investigating Livingston County Collision

Sep 29, 2023 | 12:05 PM

GRAND RIVERS – Kentucky State Police are investigating a commercial vehicle accident in Livingston County.

On September 26, around 2:45pm, Livingston County Dispatch contacted KSP Post 1 requesting troopers and commercial vehicle enforcement officers to respond to an overturned truck on US 62 on the east side of the Kentucky Dam bridge.

The initial investigation determined that Anthony Cooper, 25, of Flemingsburg, was driving a 1998 Peterbilt truck pulling a cattle trailer westbound on US 62. For reasons still under investigation, it appears that the front right steering tire on the Peterbilt blew out, and the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, striking the guardrail, at which time the vehicle overturned over the guardrail off the right side of the roadway. The operator was reported to be wearing his seatbelt and sustained no injuries. The trailer was loaded with approximately 57 head of cattle. US 62 was shut down for several hours to allow for clean-up of the crash site and rounding up of loose cattle.

Trooper Derral Redwine is conducting the ongoing investigation.
