BOWLING GREEN – Bowling Green Police are investigating a burglary at the UPS warehouse on Turner Court.
Officers responded to the facility around 3:12am Monday morning regarding open and missing packages. When officers arrived, they saw all the bay doors open, and open packages on the belt line.
Several employees gave statements on what happened and took officers to the end of the building where all the packages were open.
One of the employees who arrived at work around midnight found the open packages, but thought at first that it could have been raccoons opening boxes with food inside. He soon discovered the open boxes had auto parts inside and there were several knife marks on the boxes. He also noticed the bay doors connecting the old warehouse to the new warehouse were open. Some time after calling his manager and another employee, they started scanning the tracking numbers on the open packages, and the manager called police.
The manager stated the last person that would have been inside UPS would have been on Saturday the 23rd between 6 and 7pm. He did not find any damage to entry points of the warehouse, and believes the suspect or suspects entered the UPS at the older warehouse connected from one of the open bay doors.
Employees are going through video footage for police, and will provide tracking numbers from the open packages, as well as employee information, to police at a later date.
