SMITH COUNTY, TN – On Tuesday, The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency identified a kayaker who drowned in Smith County this past weekend.
Officials say Jerry Ozmon, 65, of Scottsville, was out on the Caney Fork River with his family Saturday evening when he got caught in a current and his kayak flipped. Ozmon was transported to a hospital in Carthage but he did not survive.
TWRA says the incident was the 20th boating-related fatality recorded in the state this year.
