GLASGOW – On Monday, A former Glasgow Police Department detective has filed a lawsuit against Glasgow and the police department, appealing the city’s August 10th decision to terminate his employment.

Attorney Matthew Baker filed the appeal with Barren Circuit Court August 18th on behalf of Guy J. Turcotte.

Turcotte’s suit claims that the written findings and decisions made as a result of a due process hearing are arbitrary and not supported by evidence or law.

A Barren County family court issued a protective order against Turcotte earlier this year after a female pet store employee accused him of touching her inappropriately.

Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse held a hearing in July to determine if there was sufficient evidence to prove the woman’s claims. On August 10th, Mayor Royse issued his written findings and decisions that resulted in Turcotte’s termination of service from the Glasgow Police Department.

Turcotte’s lawsuit asks the court to overturn those decisions and order compensation for his costs related to the lawsuit and that he should be awarded, quote, “all other relief to which he may be deemed entitled.”
