LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (July 29, 2023) – Kentucky State Police have arrested a former Leitchfield Police Officer.
On Thursday, July 27, the Leitchfield Police Department notified Kentucky State Police Post 4 of an internal investigation involving a Leitchfield police officer who allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female.
During the course of the investigation, KSP detectives discovered that while he was an LPD officer, Jeremy Taylor Wright, 27, of Caneyville, had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female on July 22nd in Bardstown, Kentucky. Once the relationship was discovered, Wright resigned from the department, and the case was turned over to KSP.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued on Friday, July 28, and Wright was arrested and charged with Rape 3rd Degree and Sexual Abuse 1st Degree. More charges could be forthcoming as the investigation continues. Wright was lodged in the Nelson County Detention Center.
The Leitchfield Police Department assisted Kentucky State Police.
