Kentucky State Police investigate officer-involved shooting in Louisville; suspect pronounced deceased

LOUISVILLE – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) has been requested by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 1:30 pm EST on Monday in Louisville.

At the request of LMPD, the Kentucky State Police’s Critical Incident Response Team has arrived on the scene and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. A male suspect was shot and transported to a local hospital for treatment as result of the incident. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

No officers or other members of the public were injured.

KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the commonwealth as requested by local law enforcement agencies. KSP is committed to being transparent while ensuring the integrity of the investigation. To protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation, it is KSP standard operating procedure not to release specific details until vital witnesses have been interviewed and pertinent facts gathered.
