GLASGOW – On Friday, at Glasgow High School, Glasgow Superintendent, Dr. Chad Mulhenkamp joined the GHS Principal Selection Committee to announce the schools new principal.
Beginning July 1, Joey Norman will take over the Principal duties at the prestigious school. Norman enters the role with 19 years of high school experience as a biology teacher, assistant principal, and high school principal with Warren Central High School in Bowling Green.
“It provides me with a lot of opportunities that I’ve seen before,” said Norman. “I’m coming from a very diverse school with high minority, ESL, and special education populations, so I know how to work with certain populations of students as well as the community.”
Dr. Muhlenkamp expressed excitement following the committee’s selection of Mr. Norman and for the future of Glasgow High School.
“It’s a long process for any school to select a new principal, because they become the face of the school and apart of the community,” said Muhlenkamp. “We’re excited that Mr. Norman was willing to accept the job. He brings a great depth of experience from the high school level to Glasgow.”
When discussing his transition from Bowling Green to Glasgow, Norman was emphatic on timing playing a considerable role in his decision to join the Scotties.
“When the opportunity became available, I couldn’t pass it up, because I knew this was not only a chance for me to make a professional move, but a move for my family,” said Norman. “I want to make an impact, and I think being the principal here at Glasgow is going to provide me with that opportunity.” ” I’m surrounded by a great faculty and community, and I’m super excited about this opportunity.”
Members of the community will have the opportunity to meet Glasgow High School’s newest principal closer to the beginning of the 2023-24 school year at their annual back-to-school bash in the fall.
