Frances Forbes, 81, of Bowling Green died on Saturday, May 27, 2023. The Bowling Green native was born on August 8, 1941, to the late Eugene “Genie” and Nellie Forbes. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Elbert, Frankie, and Roy Forbes and a sister, Betty Ruth Forbes.
She was a lifetime member of Barren River Baptist Church who was famous for her fried apple pies and quilts. She worked for Derby Underwear for several years. In recent years, her nephew, William Forbes, helped take care of her.
Ms. Forbes is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Sue Forbes; several nieces and nephews; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the service begins, all at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Ms. Forbes can be made to the Barren River Baptist Church Cemetery savings account at South Central Bank.
