According to a post on their Twitter page, Richardsville Fire Department was called to an accident with injury at Beech Bend Raceway on Sunday afternoon, April 23, at 2:40pm. While units were responding and approaching the scene, dispatch advised fire personnel that the incident was being upgraded to an accident with entrapment.
Arriving on scene, personnel found the patient still inside the vehicle and in need of extrication. Firefighters successfully extricated the patient from the vehicle.
Due to the mechanism of injury and a possible broken arm, the patient was flown from the scene in a helicopter to be treated for their injuries in an out of town facility.
