On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at approximately 6:30pm the body of a white male was discovered in the Green River, near Thomas Bend Road, by the Hart County Rescue Squad.
Identification of this person could not immediately be determined, however, it was suspected that this was James Jewell, who had been reported missing on April 11, 2023. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville Kentucky by the Hart County Coroner.
Today( Thursday) the male was identified as being James Jewell and an autopsy was performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville Kentucky. The results of the autopsy are pending, at this time.
Mr. Jewell’s last known location was at the electric power sub station on Glen Lily Road. Mr. Jewell was located approximately five miles downstream from his last known location.
The Hart County Sheriff’s Office has and is still investigating the incident. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hart County Rescue Squad, Kentucky State Police, and the Hart County Coroner.
