CAVE CITY – A Barren County man has been arrested after a domestic complaint on Wednesday.
Police in Cave City say they responded to 215 Mammoth Cave Street in reference to a possible domestic incident Wednesday.
Officers located a male subject, identified as Randy Sturgeon, in a field behind a residence on Railroad Avenue. Officers observed that Sturgeon appeared under the influence and conducted a search of his person. During the search, a quantity of suspected fentanyl/cocaine was located.
Sturgeon then became combative with officers, according to a press release.
Control of Sturgeon was gained without incident and EMS was notified to respond to the scene to evaluate Sturgeon due to his erratic behavior. Throughout initial contact with Sturgeon, he continuously made threats to Officers and EMS personnel.
Sturgeon was transported to TJ Samson Hospital where he was medically cleared prior to being lodged in the Barren County Detention Center
Randy Lee. Sturgeon, 40, was charged with Public Intoxication — Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol), Resisting Arrest, Terroristic Threatening – 3rd Degree, and Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified).
Jail records indicate Sturgeon was placed under a $2,500 cash bond.
The arrest was made by Officer Rafael Casas. Casas was assisted at the scene by K9 Officer Garth Avery, Barren County EMS, Cave City Fire Department, and TJ Samson Hospital.
