GLASGOW – Following an electrical fire last summer Glasgow High School resumed baseball play at Sam Royse Field at Richardson Stadium inside Gorin Park.

“It’s wonderful to have baseball being played at Richardson Field again, said Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse. “Lots of work, trying times, and challenges have paid off in seeing these youngsters getting to play again on their ‘field of dreams’. Great job to everyone.”

The Scotties resumed play at home after playing the first 11 games of the season on the road on Tuesday. Glasgow faced Franklin-Simpson and fell short 6-9, despite a comeback effort in the 6th inning.

A Facebook post by the city of Glasgow offered thanks to the workers saying, “But thanks to the hard work of the Glasgow Parks and Rec department and a number of local contractors, the electrical system and lighting were restored.”

Royse confirmed via text to WCLU News Thursday afternoon that further construction to the stadium would begin after the season ends in mid-May.
