GLASGOW — Nemak released a statement following a chemical leak at one of its Glasgow locations on Tuesday.
The company said the chlorine leak was reported around 2 a.m. All personnel at the location along Prestwick Drive were evacuated and local emergency services was notified, according to a news release.
One employee came in contact with the chlorine and was taken to TJ Samson Hospital for examination. The company said in a statement that the employee has been released in stable condition. All other employees at the factory were released to go home.
Nemak and the Glasgow Fire Department performed safety checks and air quality tests before employees were allowed to return to the site.
“Our first priority is the safety of our employees and the surrounding community,” the statement said.
