Inmate charged with assault after striking two deputy jailers

GLASGOW — State police arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted two deputy jailers in Barren County.

Jason T. Abston, 30, a state inmate, was arrested in connection to the incident. It happened last Tuesday around noon, according to an arrest citation. Barren County Jailer Aaron Bennett requested the investigation be completed.

Police allege Abston picked up a metal framed chair and hit a female deputy jailer over the head with it. He later punched a male deputy jailer in the head and face. Abston was tased before he was taken into custody. The entire incident was recorded on video, according to a citation.

The deputies were treated at TJ Samson Hospital and were later released. Abston was taken to the Warren County Regional Jail. He was charged with third-degree assault (inmate assault on a corrections employee).
