Sip, Shop & Stroll canceled this weekend

Nov 4, 2022 | 2:46 PM

GLASGOW — A downtown event has been postponed that was slated for Saturday.

The Glasgow Downtown Business Association said “Sip, Shop & Stroll” was canceled on Friday due to forecasted high winds on Saturday. Of the 85 vendors, about 60 replied to a poll gauging whether they supported the postponement.

“We just want to make sure everybody is safe,” said Sherry Thomas, a DBA member, in a phone call with WCLU News. “This event is going to be too much for our vendors.”

Vendors were in support of the cancelation namely due to safety concerns and fears products would be difficult to manage in the winds. The event was expected to take place on the downtown square with live music, crafts, food trucks and vendors.

“This is a big deal,” she said. “We spend a lot of time preparing.”

Vendors were encouraged to participate in a craft fair at the Barren County YMCA next week. Those who cannot participate in the spring will be issued a refund.

The event was not immediately rescheduled. Thomas said it will likely occur in the springtime.
