BOWLING GREEN — Authorities determined two explosive-related threats on the campus of Western Kentucky University Wednesday morning posed no threats.

Suspicious material was located near Cherry Hall. Building in the area were evacuated and all classes were canceled until the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives removed the material for disposal. The material was construction-related, according to an email from the university’s Director of Media Relations, Jace Lux.

After officials determined no threat existed for students, the campus or general area, an all-clear message was issued at 12:07 p.m. An anonymous bomb threat was issued online sometime during the Cherry Hall explosive investigation.

The university said the post was discovered on social media platform Yik-Yak. The WKU Police Department was able to identify a person of interest through work with the social media platform. The person admitted the threat was not legitimate before they were arrested.

Classes were set to resume at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. No additional information was released.
