GLASGOW — Charges are expected to be dropped with prejudice for a former social worker in Barren County charged with failure to report child neglect or abuse.

Lanita A. Neal of Glasgow was charged earlier this year after Glasgow Police investigated an incident that allegedly happened in her Market Street home in November 2021. The incident involved a sexual crime involving juveniles, and police alleged she attempted to quieten any reports to police.

Those charges will be diverted for six months to be dismissed with prejudice if Neal has no further violations of the penal code, according to the agreed order. As a condition of the dismissals, the judge ruled Neal’s appeal to be reinstated as an employee of the commonwealth must be dismissed with prejudice.

Neal was formerly employed at the Barren County Department for Community Based Services. She was as a case worker.

John S. Kelley was appointed to preside over the case as a special judge. Wes Stephens has acted as the special prosecutor.

Neal is expected to appear in court again on March 1, 2023, alongside her attorney, Ben Rogers. The final dismissal will be heard then.
