BOWLING GREEN — The expected traffic impacts in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area for Sept. 9 through Sept. 16 are listed below. All work is subject to change.
Interstate 65
- A rehabilitation and resurfacing project on I-65 from mile point 0.0 to 14 continues. Motorists should expect I-65 to be down to one lane Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Southbound and northbound lane closures are also possible. Please use caution and expect delays during this time frame. Slowed and stopped traffic is also possible.
Interstate 165
- A project to resurface Interstate 165 and KY 9007 from the interchange with I-65 to U.S. 231 in Warren County is expected to start next week. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- A bridge painting project at the exit 7 interchange will create lane closures on I-165 in the area of the bridge. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph in this section.
Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Expressway
- A project to rehabilitate and resurface a section of the Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Express in Barren and Metcalfe Counties will continue next week. Motorists can expect work going on from the 20-mile marker to the 36-mile marker and the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph. Lane closures will be in place from the 20-mile marker to the 28 mile marker.
- A project to rehabilitate and resurface a section of the Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Express in Barren County will continue next week. Motorists can expect lane closures from the 9 mile marker to the 16 mile marker and the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph.
Barren County
- KY 90 Burkesville Road (mile point 17.7 – 22.0) – Construction of the next phase of KY 90 Glasgow-Burkesville Road continues. The project encompasses a section of roadway approximately four miles long between Fallen Timber Creek Bridge, near KY 839, and the Barren/Metcalfe County line. The project will widen the existing roadway template and features a bypass around the Eighty-Eight community. Motorists can expect flaggers to be present throughout the project. Traffic around Moore Road has been shifted to a temporary alignment. Motorists are urged to reduce their speed and remain vigilant in this area as road crews will be working near the highway.
- KY 249 Roseville Road (mile point 10.9 – 16.3) – A pavement repair and resurfacing project continues on KY 249 Roseville Road beginning at the north end of Skaggs Creek Bridge and extending north to the intersection with U.S. 31-EX. Crews will begin with pavement repairs and pipe replacements. The roadway will be resurfaced when the repair portion of the project is finished. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 1297 Old Bowling Green Road (mile point 10.9 – 16.3) – A pavement repair and resurfacing project will continue on KY 1297 Old Bowling Green Road beginning north of Beckton Rocky Hill Road and extending north near the intersection with KY 3600. Crews will begin with pavement repairs and pipe replacements. The roadway will be resurfaced when the repair portion of the project is finished. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
Butler County
- U.S. 231 – A project to resurface U.S. 231 from Aberdeen to the Ohio County line continues. Motorists should expect delays and construction activities.
Edmonson County
- KY 70 Main Street (mile points 9.9 – 11.7)– An asphalt resurfacing project will resume on KY 70 Main Street beginning at the intersection of Morgantown Road and KY 259 and extending east to the intersection with Washington Street. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone during the day.
Logan County
- U.S. 79 (from mile points 9.6 to 10.7) – A resurfacing project is expected to start on September 1. Motorists should expect lane closures and slower speeds through this section. Motorists should expect loose gravel during the first phase of the project with an asphalt surface to follow. The speed limit will be lowered to 45 mph.
- KY 1040 – A project to replace a culvert on KY 1040 Reservoir Drive in Logan County has started. The road is closed near the intersection of KY 1040 and KY 106 (mile point 10.8) in Lewisburg. The road closure is expected to last approximately two weeks.
Metcalfe County
- Mosby Ridge Road (mile point 0.2)– A project to replace a bridge on Mosby Ridge Road in Metcalfe County has begun. The project has closed the road at the bridge over East Fork Little Barren River at mile point 0.2. The bridge is expected to reopen in mid-September. Motorists may follow the detour which utilizes Society Hill Road, KY 533 – Breeding Hill Road, and Lewis Free Road.
Monroe County
- KY 100 (mile point 0.3 – 7.3) – Crews will be working on a resurfacing project in this section. Motorists should expect delays beginning next week.
Todd County
- KY 181 – Crews will be working on putting down shoulder rock. Motorists should expect lane closures from U.S. 68 to KY 507.
Warren County
- U.S. 31-W Nashville Road – A project to widen U.S. 31-W from Dillard Road to just south of Buchanon Park continues. Motorists should use caution as this area is a heavy construction zone. The speed limit has been lowered to 45 mph.
- U.S. 68 – A preventive maintenance project on U.S. 68 Veterans Memorial in Bowling Green continues. The project is from the bridge over Jennings Creek (mile point 11.1) to near Old Barren River Road (mile point 12.9). Motorists should expect lane closures and a lower speed limit. Please use caution and pay attention to the posted speed limit. Motorists will be driving on loose gravel until the final asphalt surface gets put down.
- U.S 31-W Bypass – A Bowling Green Municipal Utility (BGMU) project will temporarily close a section of the U.S. 31-W Bypass in Bowling Green next week. The U.S. 31-W Bypass will close between U.S. 231 Broadway Avenue and E. 15 Avenue beginning Monday, Sept. 12 at 6 a.m. The roadway is expected to open by the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 23. The work schedule is weather dependent.
