KYTC: Cumberland Expressway ramp closures begin this week

GLASGOW — Ramp closures will begin Sunday as crews continue work along the Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Expressway in Barren and Metcalfe counties.

The closures are planned from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and will occur beginning Sunday, Aug. 14. Detours to the next interchange will be in place, according to a news release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Exit 11 and Exit 14 in Barren County will be impacted first and the ramps will change every night as progress is made. Motorists should plan for extra travel time for the detour to the next interchange. The work is weather dependent, officials said.

Sunday, Aug. 14
Exit 11 eastbound to U.S. 31-E closed.
Exit 11 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.

Monday, Aug. 15
Exit 14 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.
Exit 14 westbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.
Exit 11 eastbound off-ramp to U.S. 31-E closed.
Exit 11 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.

Tuesday, Aug. 16
Exit 11 westbound off-ramp to U.S. 31-E closed.
Exit 11 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.
Exit 14 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.
Exit 14 westbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.

Wednesday, Aug. 17
Exit 14 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.
Exit 14 eastbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.
Exit 11 westbound off-ramp to U.S. 31-E  closed.
Exit 11 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.

Thursday, Aug. 18
Exit 14 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.
Exit 14 eastbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.

Motorists should expect ongoing work from the 20-mile marker to the 36-mile marker, and the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph. Lane closures will be in place from the 28-mile marker to the 36 mile marker. Motorists should also expect lane closures from the 9 mile marker to the 16 mile marker. The speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph, too.
