PARK CITY — After a showdown with police Monday evening, a Wisconsin woman was arrested, and two juveniles were taken into protective custody.

State police said a vehicle was observed traveling at 98 mph along Interstate 65. It was also weaving through traffic and passing other vehicles in the middle and right lanes of travel, according to an arrest citation.

Police later identified Alexandria S. Kirksey, 25, of Racine, Wis., as the vehicle’s driver. A state trooper alleges Kirksey sped up when a traffic stop was attempted and straddled the fog lines between lanes. She eventually left the interstate and pulled into a Shell gas station just off Exit 48.

Police allege Kirksey refused to exit her vehicle when commands were given. They said she was “belligerent and continued to refuse commands throughout the whole incident.” Police also described her as restless, excited and very talkative.

Kirksey eventually got out of the vehicle and was irritable, according to a citation. She told police she had not slept in several days and had taken ecstasy with methamphetamine in it two weeks ago.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, which found marijuana, a pill bottle with an unknown pink/ pressed pill with no markings and suspected red marijuana edibles.

Two juvenile males, 8, and 14, were inside the vehicle. They were taken into protective custody.

Kirksey was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center. She was charged with fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a minor, and several other traffic and drug offenses.
