GLASGOW — A portion of a roadway in Barren County is closed due to excessive waters and damage to a low water ford.

Kino-88 Road is closed until further notice, according to a news release from Micheal Hale, Barren County judge/ executive.

Rainfall across the region accumulated rapidly overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning. Severe thunderstorms and excessive periods of lightening were also observed.

A heat advisory was in effect on Wednesday before the storms passed through the area. Most of the nation has seen excessive heat warnings and rising temperatures the last few days.

“We have a tremendous amount of trees that are down,” Hale said. “I believe that’s where the ground’s been so dry. That wind blew so hard overnight.”

Report downed trees or water over roadways to the county road department at (270) 678-2832.
