GLASGOW — The Glasgow Independent School system announced Wednesday that it will reveal its selection of a new superintendent later than expected.

The appointment of a superintendent is now expected by Aug. 1, according to a media timeline released by school officials. The previous date for the announcement was July 25.

The adjustments to the media timeline were made to coordinate schedules of certain board members and to prepare for an “effective interview process,” according to a statement sent to WCLU News from Phil Eason, the Kentucky Association of School Administrators consultant assisting GIS in their search.

“At this point, the goal is to be effective, not necessarily efficient,” Eason said.

Candidate interviews are scheduled July 26 and July 28.

A search committee was devised by the school system’s board of education, and they returned four recommendations earlier this month. Two are current administrators with GIS.

Applicants who received passage to the board of education include Amy Allen, Glasgow High School principal; Chad Muhlenkamp, the Glasgow Ind. Schools’ director of pupil personnel and facilities director; Cameron Jackson, Fleming County Schools’ director of pupil personnel and transformation; and Matthew Perkins, Muhlenberg County Schools’ assistant superintendent.

The screening committee comprised one board appointee and parent representative, and four faculty representatives. Members were Reggie Hayden, Justin Stinson, Lisa Bartley, Chasity Lowery, Shannon Faenza and Stephanie Dickerson.

Larry Hammond continues to serve as interim superintendent.
