GLASGOW — The local electric plant board of directors has two new members.
Glasgow Mayor Harold Armstrong put forth Troy Stephens – an employee of TJ Samson Community Hospital – and Beau Jones – a veteran of the Kentucky Army National Guard – as recommendations to be appointed the GEPB. The Glasgow City Council unanimously approved the appointments.
Stephens will serve until January, and Jones will serve through January 2026.
“Transition into the local level and help my community,” Jones said. “I think it’s an honor to serve.”
Jones plans to retire from the National Guard after 27 years of service, he said. But he still had plans to serve, which is why he expressed interest in the GEPB position.
Stephens has worked with the local hospital for 15 years. He said he looks forward to serving the city of Glasgow.
“Seems like we’re in a really good place right now,” Stephens said. “Seems like a great opportunity to step in and get involved.”
The two were sworn in Monday evening and will participate Tuesday evening’s monthly meeting at the GEPB. The meeting begins at 5 p.m.
One seat remains unfilled at the GEPB. Other board members include Marlin Witcher and Glen Pritchard. Mark Haines, the former chairperson, resigned his seat in April.
This story was published and incorrectly said Tony Stephens was appointed the GEPB. The appointed individual was Troy Stephens. WCLU News regrets this error.
