GLASGOW — WCLU News was named Thursday as the first place winner for two broadcast journalism awards presented by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association.
The announcement was made in the KBA’s weekly newsletter.
The awards seek to recognize the best work completed by the state’s television and radio stations. All entries were submitted from the prior year’s coverage.
The station was recognized for two stories submitted in the “Short Public Affairs” and the “Breaking News” categories.
“Short Public Affairs” includes stories written and broadcasted to raise public awareness of an issue for public good. The “Breaking News” category recognizes a single, specific, unscheduled, unanticipated news event requiring immediate response from the news department.
Brennan Crain was named a first place winner for a story titled “Community pours into helping animals, BRAWA during floods.” He was also named as a first place winner for coverage of tornadoes and their impact on Barren and Hart County last December.
Winners will be further recognized during KBA’s Annual Membership Conference, which is scheduled Sept. 25-27 in Owensboro.
