GLASGOW — A Barren County teen was arrested late Sunday for alleged possession of cocaine and marijuana.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy conducted a traffic stop along J. Carter Road, which is just past Lakeside Animal Clinic along Scottsville Road. A black passenger car was traveling northbound along the roadway. Its license plate was not illuminated, a deputy said.

Lana D. Westmoreland, 19, was identified as the driver. She allegedly reached toward the center console and toward the back of the vehicle as the deputy approached the vehicle.

Multiple people were inside Westmoreland’s car. They were asked to leave the car after authorities noted a strong odor of marijuana inside the vehicle.

Aside from locating a “green leafy substance” inside a purse, deputy also located a “clear bag with a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine,” a citation narrative alleged.

Westmoreland confirmed the substance was cocaine, the citation said. She said it was hers.

Authorities found a bag tucked away in Westmoreland’s sock. She said it was marijuana, the deputy alleged. She was transported to the Barren County Detention Center.
