GLASGOW — Winter advisories and watches are in place across most of Kentucky. Here’s what we know.

The National Weather Service issued Winter Storm Watches and Winter Weather Advisories for most counties across Kentucky. Counties east of Barren County were placed in the watch category while advisories were issued for most communities west and northwest of Interstate 65.

The timing of snowfall varies. Areas further east are expected to see the most accumulations but will get the precipitation later than areas further west. Counties like Butler, Grayson, Edmonson and Warren are expected to see initial snowfall around 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday. Allen, Barren, Metcalfe and Monroe counties should expect snow to begin falling between 9 p.m. and midnight.

Travel impacts are expected Friday evening and Saturday. The NWS said travel conditions will be difficult or impossible for Interstate 75 and portions of Interstate 64.

Wind chill values Saturday morning are expected to be about 9 degrees Fahrenheit in Barren County. Some communities are as low as 4 degrees. Wind gusts could be up to 25 miles per hour at times, the NWS said. The air will be “very cold Sunday morning as well.”
