GLASGOW — A statewide tornado safety drill is scheduled Wednesday morning.
Outdoor warning siren systems will be activated at 9:07 a.m. CST. Sirens, radio and television and weather radios may be activated, the National Weather Service said.
Springtime is often a time for severe storms and weather. A deadly tornado ripped through West Liberty, Ky., March 2, 2012. Forty-one people died, according to the National Weather Service. Kentucky continues to recover from a series of deadly storms that impacted much of the western and southcentral regions Dec. 10-11, 2021.
“Severe weather knows no boundaries and impacts every individual in every region of the Commonwealth,” according to a news release from the National Weather Service.
Residents should prepare tornado safety plans for work, home and school. Severe Weather Awareness Week runs through March 7.
