SHEPERDSVILLE — A man allegedly carjacked a vehicle in southern Indiana Monday before he drove it to Kentucky and led a high speed pursuit.
Kentucky State Police said their agency was notified about 2:04 p.m. of a southbound vehicle pursuit along Interstate 65. Police received information it was stolen from Jeffersonville, Ind. A suspect, identified as 55-year-old Jeffrey A. Thomas, allegedly carjacked the vehicle at gunpoint.
State Police joined the pursuit at the 117-mile marker along Interstate 65 near Sheperdsville. The suspect was observed driving in a reckless manner with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour, police said.
The pursuit ended near the Welcome Center in Bullitt County. Louisville Metro Police’s SWAT team was called to assist.
Thomas is charged with receiving stolen property, first degree wanton endangerment, first degree fleeing or evading police, speeding, operating a motor vehicle under the influence and several other traffic violations. He’s lodged at the Bullitt County Detention Center.
