GLASGOW — A sweepstakes with a $4,000 appliance bundle hosted by the Tennessee Valley Authority closes Friday.
The EnergyRight program seeks to give consumers tools and information about their energy decisions. The TVA hosts a sweepstakes occasionally as a part of the program.
The latest contest is a Smart Holiday Sweepstakes. It includes one grand prize worth $4,000 and two smaller giveaways.
And anyone who lives in a TVA serviced area is eligible to apply. The TVA supplies power to the Glasgow EPB.
“That’s not the point — to reward TVA customers,” says GEPB Marketing and Communications Director Aaron Russell. “The point is to make the general public more aware of EnergyRight and the program and the programs that they have, as well as the information they have available at their website.”
The colder times of the year make energy efficiency an important concept for consumers. Cold air seeping into homes often means higher electric bills.
The Glasgow EPB says reducing customer costs is its main priority. That’s why they encourage customers to ensure their homes are energy efficient.
“We want to make you aware of every single tip, everything that we can, everything that you can change,” Russell says.
Russell says improvement may be costly at first, but the long term impact of making homes energy efficient can save consumers hundreds of dollars yearly.
The grand prize includes options like a refrigerator, washer and dryer and a dishwasher. The smaller prizes include a Nest thermostat and a smart mug warmer.
