State of Emergency closes local government offices Friday

FRANKFORT — A State of Emergency declared Thursday in Kentucky due to winter weather has closed some government offices in the area.

The City of Glasgow says its services will be limited. Clearing roadways is the priority for public services.

Trash and recycling pickup scheduled Friday is now deferred until Monday, Jan. 10. Collections scheduled normally on Monday will continue as planned.

Glasgow City Hall is closed Friday, Jan. 7. City Hall will reopen Monday, Jan. 10.

Glasgow Regional Landfill is closed Friday. A determination for Saturday’s operation will be determined Friday based on roadway conditions.

Glasgow Transit Services will not available Friday. Those services will resume Monday, too.

The Barren County Government Center is closed Friday. Offices in the building include the Barren County Clerk, Barren County Sheriff, Barren County Judge Executive and Barren County PVA, among others.

Kentucky has extended its political filing deadline. Prospective candidates may now file through Jan. 25 rather than the original Jan. 7 deadline.

Stipulations of the emergency declaration include authorizations for National Guard personnel and Emergency Management. For a complete look at the declaration, click here.
