GLASGOW — Road crews are treating roadways ahead of expected winter weather Thursday afternoon and evening.
Barren County Judge Executive Micheal Hale said road crews plan to treat rural roads Wednesday.
“We’ll start first thing this morning,” Hale said. “We’ll be treating our rural secondary roads with our brine solution. That will target our dairy industry roads.”
Hills and blind spots will be treated afterwards.
The Glasgow Department of Public Works said city roadways plan to be treated.
Roadways such as North Race Street, South Green Street and Columbia Avenue are state roads. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet had treated some of those Tuesday.
The weather is expected by midafternoon Thursday as students are leaving schools in the area. Hale said local officials will stay in contact with transportation officials to mitigate the weather’s impact on student transportation.
Single digit temperatures are projected by Friday morning.
Weather delays and closures Friday may be possible. If so, submit to WCLU Radio here.
