GLASGOW — A Barren County man was arrested Tuesday evening along Dripping Springs Road after he crashed his vehicle and fled on foot.

The crash happened at the intersection of Dearing Road and New Bowling Green Road. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:12 p.m.

Deputy Tyler Maxey was dispatched and alerted a man had fled the accident on foot and abandoned the wrecked Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Christopher J. Pitcock, 46, was identified through documents inside the abandoned truck. He apparently drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign at Dearing Road and crashed into someone’s car parked in their yard. The vehicle also hit a tree.

Authorities did not immediately find Pitcock. He was later discovered after a caller reported a suspicious man bleeding from his head along Dripping Springs Road.

Pitcock had left the area where the caller reported him. He had traveled further along the roadway toward the railroad tracks near Oakhill School.

The sheriff’s office located Pitcock hiding inside his home’s bathroom at 2581 Dripping Springs Road. He was arrested at 12:11 a.m.

He admitted to deputies he crashed the vehicle and fled. He also confirmed the truck did not have insurance coverage.

Dispatch said the plate on the truck was not valid, according to Maxey’s citation narrative.

Deputies told Pitcock he was under arrest, but he refused to leave the bathroom. Authorities told him they would “go in and pull him out.” He responded and said, “’You don’t want to do that.’”

A struggle ensued when deputies tried to place Pitcock under arrest. The struggle “went from the bathroom to the bedroom and into the floor,” according to the citation.

He was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

Pitcock faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, resisting arrest and other traffic offenses.

Jail records indicate he was released Wednesday around 4:41 a.m. Pitcock is scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
