EDMONTON — A man entered the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office Monday and threatened to assassinate personnel.

Authorities said Nathan Roth, 30, of Cuyahoga, Ohio, was arrested Oct. 8, 2021, because he possessed firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon.

Roth apparently entered the sheriff’s office Monday morning around 8:30 to get those firearms back. He produced handwritten documents which contained threatening comments. He also suggested he may hurt members of the public.

The man also stated “he is allowed to go into ‘combat mode’ on all law enforcement officers at his discretion and assassinate them,” according to a news release.

Roth had another firearm in his possession, police said.

He faces charges relating to possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, third degree terroristic threatening and menacing.

The incident remains under investigation.
