Gregory D. Price, 29, was arrested New Year’s Day after he attempted to burglarize a home along Flint Knob Road.

CAVE CITY — The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday to an attempted burglary in progress.
Authorities said Gregory D. Price, 29, was in the front yard of a home located at 776 Flint Knob Road. He was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. He also had a noticeable marijuana-like smell coming from his person.
The homeowner said Price attempted to force open the home’s front door with his shoulder around 7:45 a.m.. He was unsuccessful in the attempt to break into the home.
Price was arrested but not without a struggle. The BCSO said he attempted to jerk away when a deputy began to cuff him. Authorities detained him after a brief struggle.
Price had a blue tin container on his person. It contained marijuana and a package of 1.5 rolling papers.
He was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center but was released Sunday. A court date was not immediately known.
