Sherry Jo Depp Dickinson, age 76, died peacefully on December 25, 2021. She
was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Born September 6,
1945, Sherry grew up in Glasgow and was a graduate of Glasgow High School.
She and her husband, Dr. LG, enjoyed traveling with family and friends and
hiked all over the United States. Along with Emmy Lou Dickinson, Sherry was
an owner of “Things I Like,” a shop on the Square in Glasgow that sold
clothes and gifts in the 1980s. She was known for her chic and aesthetic
taste. An enthusiastic bridge player, she enjoyed the mental challenge as
well as the fellowship of her bridge club. She was also an avid reader. A
supporter of her husband in his medical practice, she worked in his office
for a time and was a member of the medical auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Jefferson Lewis Dickinson (Tara Jo
Frazier), as well as two granddaughters, Joely Elaine Dickinson and Abigail
(Abby) Lewis Dickinson, and a step-granddaughter Cameron Nash. Other
survivors include sister- in-law, Pam Oliver Depp of Mt. Juliet, TN,
sister-in-law, Jeanne Dickinson White and husband John White of Raleigh, NC;
one brother-in-law, John Day (Jake) Dickinson and wife Pat Martin Dickinson;
and sister-in-law, Jan Wussow Dickinson, all of Glasgow. Four nephews, two
nieces, cousins, as well as lifelong friends, also survive.
Sherry is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Lewis Goodman
Dickinson, her parents Joseph Sherrill Grinstead Depp and Gladys “Maurie”
Hood Depp, and brother William Sherrill “Butch” Depp.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the
First Christian Church, 1100 N Race St Glasgow. Visitation at the church
will continue Friday, December 31, 2021, from 11 AM until the memorial
service begins at 1:00 PM at First Christian Church. Graveside service will
follow at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Family will return to church for a
bereavement meal.
