Officials continue tornado, storm damage assessments

The National Weather Service in Louisville will continue Monday to survey tornado and storm damage from the weekend. Most damage assessment continues in Warren County, but officials said areas like Monroe and Marion Counties will be assessed in the coming days.

The Weather Service released information Sunday evening about 11 p.m. regarding some storm damage results. The most major storm crashed through Warren County and Bowling Green. Two of the other most severe storms zipped through Taylor and Ohio County.

Storm damage assessment Monday continues in Warren, Logan, Ohio, Marion, Taylor and Green Counties. Monroe County will be assessed Tuesday, according to the Weather Service.

An EF-3 tornado was confirmed in Bowling Green early Saturday. Wind speeds are estimated at 155 miles per hour. Twelve people are confirmed dead.

An EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Horse Cave, and an EF-2 storm was confirmed in Hardyville. Both Hart County storms left only person injured, according to Hart County Judge Executive Joe Choate.

“You’ll see houses pretty much gone or mobile homes gone or roofs off,” Choate said.

An EF-3 tornado was confirmed in Ohio and Taylor Counties. Wind speeds topped 140 miles per hour. One person is confirmed dead in Taylor County.

Western Spencer County suffered an EF-1 tornado with 95 miles per hour winds.

Breckinridge and Grayson Counties suffered an EF-1 tornado. Officials reported 105 mph winds near Falls of Rough.

Damage assessment will continue this week. There is not a clear indication when the National Weather Service will complete its assessments.
