GLASGOW, Ky. — The board charged with overseeing a new Barren County Judicial Center voted Wednesday to make an offer on a parcel of property for the project.

The Barren County Judicial Center Project Development Board met in a special session to consider the future acquisition of property for the building and its associated structures. The board met Nov. 24 to consider the same topic.

The board met in a closed session and decided to take two actions, according to unofficial meeting minutes provided to WCLU News Thursday afternoon.

Board member John T. Alexander – Barren Circuit Judge – made a motion to draft a letter to make an offer to purchase a parcel of property discussed in the closed session. The parcel’s location was not disclosed.

Fellow member Gabe Pendleton – Barren District Judge – seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously in favor of the motion.

The payout of the purchase is not to exceed the appraised cost of the parcel, according to the minutes.

A second action was also set into action with a motion from Alexander.

The judge motioned to order two additional appraisals for “the other two parcels we discussed potentially purchasing in closed session and have ready, if possible, at the next meeting.”

The motion was seconded by Joan Norris, and it carried unanimous approval of the board.

Voting members of the board include Alexander, Pendleton, Norris, Rich Alexander – a representative of the Kentucky Bar Association, Krissie Fields – Barren Circuit Court Clerk, and Micheal Hale – Barren County Judge Executive.

The next PDB meeting is scheduled Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. The meetings are generally held inside the Barren fiscal courtroom on the third floor of the Barren County Government Center.
